Eagles demolish Highland Home in season finale

The Goshen Eagles ended their regular season in fine fashion on Thursday evening when they knocked off Highland Home 67-24.

Ten different players scored the basketball for the Eagles in the 43-point season-ending win.

The Eagles (11-5) roared out of the gates and scored 28 points in the opening quarter. Senior Michael Hollis scored 8 points in the quarter and the Eagles went into the second with a comfortable 28-3 lead.

The Eagles defense held up again in the second quarter when they held Highland Home to a single point. Hollis added 11 more points and the Eagles went into halftime with a commanding 50-4 lead.

The Eagles offense scored 16 points in the second half with much of their reserves getting the bulk of the production.

Hollis finished the game as the leading scorer for both teams with 19 points. Raquan Martin added 16 points, while Dakari Siler, Azavion Rogers and JaQuez Martin each had 6.

The Eagles will begin play in the Area 6 Tournament at 5:30 on February 7 against Central Hayneville at Calhoun High School.
