GENEVA – After getting off to an early start, the Troy Angels found themselves battling back from a tie Friday to beat Geneva 5-3 in the first game of the Dixie Softball District 6 tournament.
“We went up 1 to 0 in the first inning, then came in and scored two and were up 3 to 0 when then tied it up,” Coach Larry Sanders said. “We made to two errors in the field that allowed them to score.”
The team rallied, scoring two more runs in the top of the fourth and then “shut it down” in the fifth inning, he said.
Sanders said the Angels scored with five walks and only two hits, one each by Kelsey Gibson and Molly Kate Sanders.
“I pitched Nelsey Leverette and Molly Kate (Sanders),” he said. “They did well.”
The Troy Angels play again at 8 p.m. Tuesday, facing the winner of the Enterprise –Taylor Rehobeth game scheduled for 8 p.m. Saturday.
