“This is an outstanding thing to sit here and honor all these athletes,” said head football coach and athletic director Bart Snyder. “We honor kids for what they do in the sport as well as the ones who participate in multiple sports. It was a great turnout for a little school like Goshen. There was probably 300 people here and what a blessing that is.”

The night included dinner from the Pig Café, as well a speech from principal Major Lane. Each sport’s varsity, junior varsity and junior high teams were recognized.

“It was a coming together of the Goshen community,” Lane said. “I have been here a quarter of century, to see the same relationships that we established many years ago is special. The banquet gets bigger and bigger every year.”

Goshen had a tremendous year both on the court and on the field. The girls and boys basketball team advanced in the state playoffs, while the football team advanced to the playoffs for the seventh straight season after starting the year 0-5. The volleyball team advanced to the Class 2A Final Four and the swim team wrapped up their first ever season.

“Our girls athletic programs have done a great job,” Snyder said. “It sets the ball for all of us. Each sport is working to achieve at a high level. We are very excited at the direction the programs our heading.”

The Eagles had 16 athletes present who were given a certificate for earning all As and over 30 earning As and Bs.

“That is very important, because they are students before they are athletes,” Lane said. “We think that if they are great students than they will be good athletes.”

Monday night was also an opportunity for the Eagle faithful to recognize and thank all of the senior athletes that have made and impact for the past four years.

“I hope they understand the love and support the community of Goshen has,” Snyder said. “The memories they will be able to take with them are just a remarkable thing … in a few years these young men and young ladies will look back and they will treasure these moments and that is a great blessing.”
