The Goshen Lady Eagles closed out the regular season with a 56-29 win over rival Pike County on Friday.

“I was very pleased with it,” said Eagles head coach Fred Lowery. “They did a good job tonight. They played extremely good in the first half. We talk about winning every quarter.”

The Eagles jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead. After the Bulldogs scored their first basket at the end of the opening quarter, the Eagles went on 13-0 run. The Bulldogs were able to end the half with seven points and went into the locker room trailing 25-7.

“We wanted to set the tone,” Lowery said. “We came out and we did that. I tried to do it without pressing.”

After being outscored in the third quarter the Eagles bounced back in the fourth quarter and were able to put the game away sending the seniors out in class.

The Griffin sisters each finished with 18 points on the night to lead the bulldogs.

“They were really big for us tonight,” Lowery said. “I am proud of them tonight they helped send our seniors out.”

Na’Kieya Mclain led the Bulldogs with 10 pints while Precious Vaznian finished with nine.

The Eagles will host the area tournament in Goshen beginning on Monday. The Eagles face Elba at 6:30 p.m.
