University confirms armed robbery on campus (with video)

Troy University officials have released preliminary information about an armed robbery on campus early Sunday morning.

A student was confronted on University Avenue next to the Math and Science Complex about 1:21 a.m., according to information released by the university. Students, faculty and staff received an e-mail alerting them to the incident and reminding them to be vigilant in light of this, and the two sexual assaults last Monday at Hunters Mountain Mobile Estates. Anyone with information regarding the robbery should call 670-3215 during the day and 670-1999 after hours.

The school held a news conference in conjunction with city and campus police  at 2:30 to provide more information.
