The Troy Tigers Sharks were in the pool for their first official swim meet of the season on Tuesday afternoon in Andalusia.

There were over 80 different races throughout the afternoon and early evening and head coach Nicklaus Chrysson liked what he saw out of his young swimmers.

“The Tiger Sharks did a great job for our first meet of the summer season,” Chrysson said. “They went out there and swam their best and remembered what us coaches taught them from the first day.”

There were over 80 events, but a few stood out to Chrysson. Addison Bruner won a total of four races including the 13-14-year-old girls 100-yard freestyle after finishing the race in 59.47. The second-place finisher finished in 1:18.48.

Niu Cadee won the 9-10-year-old girls 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 57.19. Nicholas Slobodchikoff won the 11 and 12-year-old boy’s 50-yard freestyle with a time of 32.38. In the 8U girls 50-yard freestyle, Brea Swindall took home first place after she finished the race with a time of 51.55.

Tuesday’s meet was the first official meet of the summer, but Troy had an intra-squad meet on June 12. They will host Andalusia in the final regular season meet of the summer on June 26.

“We look forward to swimming this coming Tuesday here in Troy,” Chrysson said.

The district swim meet will be held in Dothan on July 14. They will close out the summer in the state meet at the end of July in Birmingham.
