Fans across Pike County will have their choice of softball action Thursday afternoon.

All four high schools in the area will play host to home games, and all are in search of a win to get their early-season struggles turned around.

Smiths Station at Charles Henderson

The Lady Trojans picked up one win at the Trojan Classic this past weekend, but also came up on the short side of two no-hit bids against Theodore. On Tuesday, the Lady Trojans fell to 6A power Northview 11-1 at home and are looking for a win to turn things around.

Charles Henderson enters the game at 4-9 on the season, and head coach Trent Givens wants his team to keep moving forward.

“We aren’t worried so much about wins and losses right now,” said Givens. “We have game goals that we want to achieve right now. If we achieve those game goals, then the wins will start to come.”

Abbeville at Pike County

The Lady Bulldogs picked up their first win of the season on Monday with an 18-7 win over Daleville. Pike County got a strong pitching performance from Chelsea Zellers, as the Lady Dawgs rebounded from getting no-hit against Goshen to open the season.

Pike County advanced to the region tournament in 2013, and a win over region-foe Abbeville Thursday night will go a long win in helping the Bulldogs reach the tourney in back-to-back seasons.

Hooper at Pike Liberal Arts

Allie Park’s former team will come to Troy to meet her current team. Park coached at Hooper Academy last season before making the move to Pike Liberal this year. The Lady Patriots have had an up and down season through the first couple of weeks, but Park feels the team can get the job done. A win over the Lady Colts could get Pike pointed in the right direction for a charge through the rest of the season.

Opp at Goshen

Goshen ended the 2013 season as one of the top teams in 2A, but has found the going a little tougher in 2014. The Lady Eagles won their season opener in dominant fashion over Pike County, but have since lost three consecutive games. The 3A Opp Bobcats come calling on Thursday in a huge game for the Lady Eagles. A win gets Goshen back in the mix of things, while a loss could be cause for concern.
