TROY – Troy University officials have named Dr. Stephen C. Miller Director of the Manuel H. Johnson Center for Political Economy in the Sorrell College of Business.
Dr. Miller joins the Center from Western Carolina University where he most recently served as director of the university’s accreditation committee and was an associate professor of economics. He joined WCU’s economics faculty in 2006.
“Under Dr. Miller’s leadership, I am confident the Johnson Center will continue on its path to becoming one of the leading free-market policy centers in the country,” said Dr. Judson Edwards, Dean of the Sorrell College of Business. “In addition to his strong record of research and outreach, Dr. Miller is a superb classroom teacher, which is essential in fulfilling the core mission of the College.”
A graduate of Towson University, Dr. Miller completed his doctorate at George Mason University, and, prior to his affiliation at Western Carolina, was a research assistant and development assistant at the Cato Institute. While at WCU, he was named Professor of Excellence for Undergraduate Teaching and was awarded a five-year grant to support Free Enterprise Educational Activities by the Charles Koch Foundation.
He is a former Visiting Summer Fellow of the American Institute for Economic Research, and was the Oloffson Weaver Fellow at George Mason, as well as a research fellow of the James Buchanan Center for Political Economy.
