Troy residents who have kids clothes in good shape that no longer fit, or that are looking for cheap clothes in great condition, can most likely find something they’re looking for at Kingdom Kids Resale.

Amber McDowell and her husband Ryan opened the resale store after realizing the need in the Troy community.

“My husband’s family is from here but he was in the military so we were moving around a lot,” Amber said. “But a few months ago we decided to move closer to family. We have a few stores like this in Georgia: the idea is to bring in old kids’ clothes for store credit that can be used to save money on getting clothes in the store.”

McDowell said the business is designed to sustain itself, but also serve as a ministry by providing affordable clothing and recycling clothes within the community instead of throwing them out.

“Kids grow really fast and sometimes they don’t have time to wear the clothes much,” McDowell said. “We offer a hand-me-down type system to offer quality clothing at the lowest prices possible.”

The store offers clothing for kids from babies to children’s 14 and 16. The store also offers maternity clothes and some other accessories such as baby toys.

The store opened its doors in November at 104 Pecan Street with a grand opening in December. The store will soon be moving in next to Napa Auto Parts on South Brundidge Street.

Clothing donations are welcomed, and McDowell said the store actually still pays for the donations, but gives that money to customers via gift cards to families in need.

“Our goal is to help families in the community and make it possible for kids to have nice clothes,” McDowell said.

Kingdom Kids is open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. It is closed on Friday.
