Two Troy locals have joined forces to open a new store in Opelika.
According to Bryan Smith, Factory South co-owner and owner of Cotton Creek in Downtown Troy, the new store is a modern day general store. Factory South offers everything from men’s and women’s apparel, home furnishings and accents, apothecary items, books and more.
Smith partners with Shaunna West, owner of Perfectly Imperfect, also in Downtown Troy, in this joint venture due to like interests.
“We were both looking at expanding and decided that our styles are so similar that we should try meshing the stores together,” Smith said.
“We appreciate things made with quality and intention, he continued. “We love things that celebrate the beauty and simplicity of our Southern upbringing.”
The name Factory South really describes what the store has to offer. It resonates the mood and theme of the store’s style.
“(Factory South) encompasses the Southern lifestyle that we grew up living,” Smith said. “It’s everything that we love and use.”
According to Smith and West, Factory South is a lifestyle brand that celebrates unique finds, home furnishings, and wearable goods.
About two weeks since the store’s opening, Smith said Factory South has received great reception from the Opelika community.
“Everything has gone great,” he said. “We opened at the right time. Downtown Opelika had two big events back to back on the weekends after our grand opening. (The people) are excited to have something new in town to compliment other new stores.”
As for the plan for development, Smith said one of his goals for the store is pushing for the website in the immediate future.
“We plan on getting it launched very soon,” he said. “Then, who knows? We are always looking at trying new things.”
Factory South is located inside the City Shops building in historic downtown c. The store opens from Monday to Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
