Troy’s Top 10 Impact Players of 2013: Chris Davis
Published 2:31 pm Friday, July 5, 2013
This is a series of 10 Troy players to watch in 2013. Their successes/failures will play a big impact on the Trojans’ season.
10. Camren Hudson
9. Bryan Holmes
7. B.J. Chitty
6. Chris Davis
One point of concern for Troy in 2013 has to be the cornerback position. The unit wasn’t overly impressive last season, but the Trojans will throw out a new crop of talent this season.
Bryan Willis, T.J. Bryant and Zach Miller (ineligible) are all gone so its up to guys like true sophomore Chris Davis to get the job done.
Davis (5-8, 167) played in all 12 games last season starting two. Though he was at right corner last year, he will be the most experienced corner returning and could make the move to left corner in 2013.
He was a two-time all-state selection out of Thomasville HS and proved his worth last year with 18 tackles and five pass breakups.
With the majority of teams utilizing some sort of spread offense these days, Davis and company will be expected to contain the edges and keep the ball in the middle of the field.
Ethan Davis should get a crack at the starting lineup and Joe Lofton’s name could be called as well.
