Troy’s top 10 impact players of 2013: Cam Hudson

This is a series of 10 Troy players to watch in 2013. Their successes/failures will play a big impact on the Trojans season.
10. Camren Hudson
Cam Hudson played in all 12 games for the Trojans last season recording 50 tackles, fifth most on the team. While ideally you would like to see your defensive backs low on that list, it does give Hudson some credibility as an everyday returner for Troy.
The Trojans defensive woes have been well documented over the past few years and Troy fans are expecting a big turnaround with the arrival of Wayne Bolt as defensive coordinator. Hudson gives Bolt an experienced option in the defensive backfield.
Troy’s safeties, especially Brynden Trawick, play a key role in support against the run but the biggest issue has been staying awake on the play action. Hudson will need to solidify the safety position early for Troy and become a guy that can shut down the deep ball, not a target for lip-licking quarterbacks.
Health could be a concern for Hudson after he sat out all contact drills during the spring with a shoulder injury. Hopefully he will back to full strength for 2013, a year in which the Trojans desperately need to be playing in December.
