Mr. and Mrs. Scott Walker of Birmingham are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Leigh Ellen Walker, to Donald Mitchell Herring, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Herring of Troy.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Dean Powell Fuqua and the late Mr. Roy Joe Fuqua and Dr. and Mrs. James Hammond Walker, all of Birmingham.

Leigh Ellen is a 2009 Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and is currently employed by the Tuscaloosa County School System.

The future groom is the grandson of Harold and Jeanette Herring and Leo and Tina Smitherman, all of Dothan.

Mitch is a 2009 graduate of the University of Alabama with Distinction with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Care Administration. He will graduate in December with a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity and is employed by Ball Health Care Systems of Alabama.

The wedding is planned for 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Grande Pointe Pavilion at Inlet Beach, Florida.
