The Goshen Eagles’ varsity volleyball team went 25-5, 25-7 and 25-8 during the team’s second area match-up against Highland Home Tuesday night.

“We won all three…again,” said volleyball coach Amy Warrick. “Kati Thomas had 20 kills, Casey Allen had 15 and Fran Warrick did great. Fran had five or six digs tonight.”

Warrick also praised first-year setter Carmen Kelly for the second night in a row.

“She had some great sets tonight,” Warrick said. “She had several people tell her after the game she played well tonight. Carmen was kind of thrown into this situation. She’s never set in a game before, and for Catie and Casey to have so many kills it’s outstanding. I can’t brag on the kid enough.”

The Goshen Eagles are currently 2-0 in area play and 5-0 overall for the season. Warrick said coming off an undefeated season in regular play and missing state play by one game last season was the driving force behind the team this year.

“We were undefeated in the regular season last year. We were one game away, and that is really tough. Our goal this season is to at least get to state again this year.”

The Eagles volleyball team will play at home on Thursday, Sept. 11 against New Brockton at 6 p.m.
