Bulldogs advancing to the round of 16

The Pike County Bulldogs are advancing to the round of 16 after knocking off Slocomb 48-25 in the opening round of the Class 3A State Playoffs on Tuesday night in Brundidge.

The Bulldogs will now travel to Montgomery to take on Pike Road on Saturday At Garrett Coliseum.

The Bulldogs outscored the Red Tops 27-8 in the second and third quarters on Tuesday night. After taking an 11-7 lead into the second quarter, the Bulldogs went into the locker room at halftime leading 25-12.

Omar Cumberbatch finished with eight points in the first half.

Zequan Boyd and Andres Burney each scored four third quarter points and the Bulldogs went into the fourth leading 38-15.

The Bulldogs and Red Tops each scored 10 points in the final frame and the Bulldogs secured he 23-point win.

Burney led the way with 11 points to go along with 16 rebounds and four blocked shots. Boyd finished with 10 points, while Cumberbatch had 10 points and seven rebounds.
