“We beat a really good team,” said head coach Josh Prestwood. “We gave up five home runs in the first game. They have some power. We had some timely hits too.”

Parker Adams got the start for Troy and pitched a complete game. The final out came on his 85 pitch, the maximum a pitcher can throw in a game.

“He pitched well,” Prestwood said. “His breaking ball was good, but we wanted the inside pitch and he hits his spots.”

Troy picked up the first three runs in the first inning without the benefit of a base hit. Enterprise starter Siaosi Blevins walked five batters in the inning. Two runs came around to score on a wild pitch with the other on a bases loaded walk.

Enterprise answered with four singles in their half of the first, including a two-run single by Hunter Bedsole to bring the score to 3-2 in favor of Troy.

Troy picked up two singles and with the benefit of Enterprise errors, Troy extended their lead to three at 5-2 heading into the bottom of the third. Kade Brookins hit a single that got passed the outfielder allowing Troy to score their fourth run. Jackson Cleveland scored on Enterprise’s second error.

Both teams had opportunities to score in the fourth, but poor base running allowed both pitchers to get out of the inning unscathed.

Troy had the bases loaded in the fifth and Cleveland smacked a single to right to drive in Booth to extend Troy’s lead to four.

Troy finished the game with seven hits led by Slade Renfroe, who picked up two hits.
