Angles boast win against Opp

The Troy Angels All-stars, got their 2015 tournament season off to a good start, Friday night in their first round matchup of their Sub-District Tournament in Luverne defeating Opp 13-3 in three innings.

The Angels will play the winner of the Andalusia and Luverne game today at 12:00 p.m.

Angels head coach Terry Garrett said playing loose and winning was something he had preached to his girls since the start of tournament season.

“Playing loose-winning, that is something I always tell the girls,” said head coach Terry Garrett. “I keep harping to these girls that if they stay loose good things will happen.”

The Angels did their most damage in the second inning with Madison Cammpbell hitting two bases -clearing triples. In all the Angles’ plated 11 runs in the second inning putting the game out of reach, leading to a 10-run rule conclusion.

“We had an outstanding 11-run second inning,” Garrett said. “I could not be prouder with the way this team operates.”

Aerial Frazier, also had a good night for the Angels she finished with a double and three RBI.

Ally Rushing picked up the win, she pitched all three innings, only allowing three hits and striking out seven.
