Quinton Cockrell has done cabaret in New York and Paris and, on Saturday night, he will perform at studio 116 in downtown Brundidge.
Cockrell’s program will include pop standards, jazz and blues music from the 1920s through the 1970s.
“Saturday night will be a full night of Quinton Cockrell and we are excited to offer this unique and special concert at studio 116,” said Chris Rick, studio co-director.
“Quinton is an outstanding actor, playwright, vocalist and musician and we are honored to have him back at studio 116.”
Cockrell, a professor of theater at Troy University, has worked with numerous theatre companies in New York City and throughout the United States.
He has worked at such prestigious venues as the Riverside Shakespeare Company, Westbeth Theatre, John Houseman Theatre, Playwright’s Horizons, Orlando Shakespeare Festival, Studio Arena Theatre, Heritage Repertory Company, Birmingham Children’s Theatre and City Equity Theatre.
Cockrell has worked extensively with the Alabama Shakespeare Festival Southern Writer’s Project since 2002.
He is a recipient of the Alabama State Council on the Arts Fellowship in playwriting for his plays “Low Life” and “Shot House,” which premiered in Paris at L’Ogresse Theatre in July 2007.
Tickets for Saturday night’s performance at studio 116 are $8 or two for $15. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tables are available for those who enjoy an indoor tailgate experience.
