The Authority is a state agency that was established by the Legislature in 1991 and manages 2.3 million acres in the 10 southeastern counties.

Boothe said the Authority is designed to develop plans and programs to improve water conservation education, flood control, and water quantity in the southeast.

“There is a lack of rainfall, and they will try to improve the water conditions in the state”, Boothe said.

One of Boothe’s plans as resident director is to create a state law for farmers to receive a $10,000 incentive for irrigation systems. He also plans to deliver water to sources to also help with the water shortages.

Boothe has served on the board since 2002 and looks forward to his continued service.

The Authority is a non-regulartory agency governed by 16 Board of Directors.
