During the officers’ meeting of the Oliver Wiley Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution on Tuesday, Karen Bullard, membership chair, was presented a certificate from the Alabama Society Daughters for her outstanding work in increasing membership.

Regent Mary Lynn Long said Bullard has worked diligently to assist prospective members in the research necessary to qualify them for membership.

“The research is quite extensive and Karen has recently enrolled four new members in the Oliver Wiley Chapter DAR,” Long said.

“She was also instrumental in getting together the necessary papers for a chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.”

Once the SAR chapter’s charter is approved for Coffee County, several members will be from Pike County.

The Oliver Wiley Chapter DAR officers met to plan the events for the 2010-2011 club year.

“The national theme this year is ‘Preserve the past, ensure the present and invest in the future,’” Long said.

“That is our guide in developing an agenda for the year beginning in September.”

The officers for the year are Mary Lynn Long, regent; Ann Williams, vice-regent; Carol Amos, second vice regent; Juanita Bush, chaplain; Patsy Folmar, recording secretary; Mary Alice Sanders, corresponding secretary; Rita Moore, treasurer; Karen Bullard, registrar; Mabeth Gibson, historian; Sara Lee Dunbar, librarian; and Jacqueline Floyd, parliamentarian.
