The Zion Chapel Lady Rebels had one of the best softball seasons in school history in 2024 and a number of players have been rewarded with All-State honors.

The Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) released its baseball and softball All-State teams on Thursday with four Lady Rebels being named to the All-State team including pitcher Sydney Boothe, catcher Amber Kidd, outfielder Kaylee Hodge and designated hitter Kennedy Hussey.

Boothe earned First-Team All-State honors, becoming the first ZCHS player to earn First-Team honors since Shelby Sorrells in 2015. Boothe pitched 124 and 2/3 innings with a 19-3 record as a starter. She struck out 148 batters and boasted a 1.853 ERA with a 1.035 WHIP. Batters held just a .194 batting average against the sophomore. She also earned 44 putouts, two assists and three double plays with an .852 fielding percentage. On the offensive end, Boothe held a .322 batting average with 11 doubles, five home runs, 40 RBIs and 17 runs.

Kidd earned Second-Team All-State honors after finishing the season with a .440 batting average, .514 on-base percentage and .696 slugging percentage. She tallied eight doubles, eight home runs, 50 RBIs and 11 runs on the season. Defensively, she earned 330 putouts, two double plays and held a perfect fielding percentage. She also picked off 12 runners and caught eight runners stealing in 241 innings behind the plate. Kidd will play college softball at Gulf Coast State next season.

Both Hussey and Hodge earned All-State Honorable Mention. Hussey earned a .382 batting average with a .426 on-base percentage and .646 slugging percentage. She also tallied 16 doubles, five triples, four homers, 52 RBIs and 48 runs. Hussey will play college softball at Montevallo next season. Hussey’s sisters Kaylee (Hussey) Stewart and Carson Hussey both played college softball as well. Carson Hussey played at Gulf Coast State, while Stewart was a star catcher at Troy University.

Hodge is only a sophomore but still boasted a .352 batting average with a .448 on-base percentage and .484 slugging percentage. She also tallied six doubles, five triples, 26 RBIs and 42 runs. Defensively, she earned a .951 fielding percentage with 37 putouts, two assists and two double plays.

Additionally, Ariton freshman Beth Dixon earned All-State Honorable Mention as a utility player. Dixon held a .448 batting average with 12 doubles, one triple, one homer, 20 RBIs and 54 runs. She also pitched 81 and 1/3 innings with 67 strikeouts, while holding a 2.59 ERA.
