In a statement from 12th Judicial Circuit District Attorney James Tarbox, it was revealed that the 15-year-old accused of an October murder has been transferred to the adult courts of Pike County in connection to the murder.

While Tarbox said that the details of the hearing are confidential, Judge Steven Curtis issued an order transferring the case to adult court. The 15-year-old has been in custody for the murder of his 17-year-old brother, alledgedly committed on Oct. 2, 2023.

“The District Attorney’s Office believed his transfer to adult court was necessary given the nature of the crime and surrounding circumstances, which have previously been released to the media, via a press release from Sheriff Russell Thomas,” Tarbox said. “The District Attorney’s Office appreciates the Pike County Sheriff’s Office and their continued efforts in assisting to prosecute this case.”

According to a statement from Thomas in October, the accused, who was 14 years old at the time of the murder, allegedly confessed to the crime. According to the alleged confession, Peros shot his brother as he sat on a couch and eventually hid his body behind the brothers’ home.

According to Tarbox, the accused will be held without bond pending a hearing to be held in the District Court of Pike County next week.
