Trojans hold off Montgomery Catholic in season opening win

The Charles Henderson boys’ basketball team began their 2020-2021 basketball season on Tuesday evening in Montgomery with a 73-58 win over the Knights of Montgomery Catholic.

Trojan Akeives Shorts led all scorers with 24 points on Tuesday night after he put up 12 points in both the first and second half.

In all, the Trojans had nine different players get on the scoreboard. Tay Knox finished in double figures with 12 points, while Zach Henderson and Jywon Boyd each had nine.

After taking a 17-12 lead into the second quarter, the Trojans outscored the Knights 17-7 in the second quarter and took a 34-19 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Despite being outscored in the third quarter, the Trojans held off the Knights with a 16-13 advantage in the fourth quarter.

The Trojans will be back in action on Friday night when the travel to Ozark to take on Carroll.
