Ariton keeps postseason hopes alive with win

The Ariton Purple Cats won their second game in a row by knocking off Elba 45-32 on Friday night in Ariton.

After dropping four consecutive games, Ariton’s back-to-back wins gives them a 4-5 overall record and a 3-3 record in region play, keeping their dreams of making the postseason alive.

The Purple Cats finished with 444 yards of total offense. Quarterback Ian Senn completed five of his 12 passes for 82 yards and he had one touchdown. Senn led the team in rushing yards with 182 yards on 16 carries and he had four touchdowns. Jordan Smith finished with 166 yards on 23 carries. Landon Thrash and Zack Phillips each had one rushing touchdown.

Thrash and Cade Webb each had two receptions. Thrash finished with 45 yards and had one touchdown.

Jackson Baker led the team with 14 tackles, while CJ McNabb had 13. Thrash and Chase Hughes had 10.

The Purple Cats will be back in action next Friday night when they travel to take on Cottonwood.
