Patriots knock off Tuscaloosa

The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots bounced back after last week’s loss to Chambers Academy and knocked off Tuscaloosa Academy 34-7 on Friday night in Tuscaloosa.

It was a reunion for head coach Mario White and Mayes White on Friday night. Mario spent years coaching the Knights, while Mayes played multiple sports at Tuscaloosa Academy.

The Patriots finished the game with 440 yards of offense. They finished the game with 272 yards on the ground and 168 yards through the air.

In his return, Mayes White completed 11 of his 29 pass attempts for 168 yards and had one touchdown.  Jay Taylor had five catches for over 100 yards and had one touchdown.

Kam Baker led the ground attack for the Patriots. He finished with 221 yards on 14 carries and had two rushing touchdowns.

The Patriots went into halftime leading by 10 at 17-7. They outscored the Knights 17-0 in the second half to secure the win.

The Patriots will return to action next Friday to take on Valiant on the road. They will return the week after to take on Glenwood.
