Rebels, Purple Cats in action

The Ariton Purple Cats and Zion Chapel Rebels return to action on Friday night and both are looking for a much-needed win.

After starting the season 2-1, the Purple Cats have dropped three straight and now sit 2-4. The Rebels are still waiting for their first taste of victory in 2020. They have started the season 0-5.

The Purple Cats hope to end their three-game losing streak when they return home to take on Abbeville.

The Purple Cats averaged 30 points per game in their first four contests. Since then the Purple Cats have scored 26 combined points in the last two games.

Their latest loss came at the hands of Slocomb, 35-20. A week prior, Ariton lost to G.W.  Long 52-6.

The Yellow Jackets enter the game 4-1 on their season and are coming off a 32-0 win over Bullock County last Friday. Their only loss came at the hands of Geneva County two weeks ago. They have shutout their opponents three times this season.

The Rebels fell to Samson 56-12 last week to fall to 0-5. They hope to pick up their first win this Friday when they travel to take on G.W. Long.

After scoring 26 points in their season opening loss to Kinston, the Rebels have scored a combined 25 points in their next four games.

G.W. Long finds themselves undefeated on the season at 4-0. They are coming off a 55-14 win over Daleville last week. They currently find themselves in a tie for first place in Class 2A Region 2.

G.W. Long defeated Zion Chapel last season 26-10.

Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m.
