Eagles fall to Reeltown on senior night

The Goshen Eagles kicked off their home schedule against Reeltown on Friday night. The Eagles surrendered 27 first half points and fell to the Rebels 34-13.

The loss for the Eagles drops them to 0-3 on the season. All three games have been against region opponents.

The Eagles scored all 13 of their points in the second half on Friday night. TiQuan Hodges took a Will Snyder handoff 16 yards for Goshen’s first touchdown of the night. Snyder scored himself on a 45 yard run.

The Rebels scored on four out of their six first half possessions on Friday. They scored on their opening possession on the very first play. They hauled in a 53-yard touchdown pass to give them an early advantage over the Eagles.

After an Eagle three-and-out on their next possession, the Rebels scored on their first play once again when Zy Collins took a handoff 35 yards for the touchdown.

The Eagles followed suit with their longest drive of the half of seven plays. After the drive stalled, the Rebels took a comfortable 20-0 lead on a 17-yard touchdown run by Johnny Brown.

The Rebels scored their final touchdown of the half on an 18-yard touchdown run by Dakarian Hodges, bringing the score to 27-0.

The Eagles were able to force a turnover in the first half in Reeltown’s next possession. TiQuan Hodges forced a fumble and later recovered it. Two plays later the Rebels got it back on an interception.

The Rebels scored their final points on a touchdown in the third quarter.

The Eagles offense finished the game with 197 total yards. Snyder completed two of his six passes for 35 yards. Snyder finished the game with 75 yards and Hodges finished with 51. Jeff Warrick led the team with seven tackles.

The Eagles will be off next Friday. They will be back in action in two weeks when they travel to take on Dadeville.
