The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots are forced to alter their schedule for Friday night’s scheduled homecoming game against Edgewood.

Edgewood was forced to cancel the game on Sunday morning due to a player testing positive for COVID-19.

The game was scheduled to be the Patriots’ homecoming. Instead, homecoming will now be celebrated on October 23 in a game against Glenwood. That game currently is scheduled to be the Patriots’ final regular season home game.

The Patriots entered the week 3-0 on the season after they knocked off Lee-Scott 56-0 on senior night on Friday. In their three games this season, the Patriots have outscored their opponents 147-12 and have shutout their last two opponents.

Even though just one of their players tested positive, Edgewood is forced to quarantine a total of 14 players for up two weeks. The Wildcats feel like they would not have enough players to adequately compete with the Patriots.

The cancellation will result in a forfeit for the Wildcats. Edgewood falls to 3-2, while the Patriots improve to 4-0.

As of Monday afternoon, Pike’s next game is scheduled for September 25 when they hit the road for the first time to take on Chambers Academy in LaFayette.
