Busy Friday night for local football teams

Five out of the six local football teams will be in action Friday night, with the lone exception being Charles Henderson.

Pike Liberal Arts, Goshen, Pike County, Ariton and Zion Chapel will all get on the field Friday night, two of which will be at home.

The Charles Henderson Trojans were originally scheduled to play Early County, but Early County had to cancel in August.

The Pike Liberal Arts, fresh off their dominating win over Hooper last week, will play their third consecutive home games on Friday when they host region rival Lee-Scott. The Patriots have started the season 2-0. The Warriors come into the game 0-2 on the season.

The Pike County Bulldogs at long last will get their season started on Friday night. They will take on region rival Dadeville on Friday night inside Bulldogs Stadium. The Bulldogs finished last regular season undefeated. They fell to T.R. Miller in the opening round of the playoffs. Dadeville is 1-1 on the season.

After opening their season last Friday night with a loss to Trinity in Montgomery. The Goshen Eagles remain on the road Friday night, this time to take on Childersburg. The Eagles fell to the Wildcats 47-6 last week. Childersburg is 0-2 on the season and is coming off a 28-8 loss to Reeltown.

The Zion Chapel Rebels are searching for their first win of the season. They hope to get it Friday night when they hit the road to take on Elba. Zion Chapel fell to Abbeville last week 36-0.

The Ariton Purple Cats bounced back after their first loss of the season in week 2 with a win over Houston County last week. The Purple Cats will take on Geneva County in their first road game of the season. Geneva  County comes into the game 2-0, while the Purple Cats are 2-1.
