Not even 24 hours after the Trojans released their 2020 schedule, their first opponent, Louisiana-Monroe, has announced they were halting all football activities after a recent surge in positive COVID-19 cases.
Troy’s game with ULM is scheduled for September 5 at Veterans Memorial. ULM Athletic Director Scott McDonald hopes to restart preparations for the season early next week.
“We’ll await the latest round of test results while continuing to monitor our quarantined student-athletes,” ULM Athletic Director Scott McDonald said in a press release. “We hope to safely resume football-related activities early next week.”
Troy’s game with the Warhawks is expected to draw some interest and could be a nationally televised game.
Troy’s game with ULM will mark just the 12th time in school history that the Trojans open the season against a conference opponent.
