Troy, BYU agree to home and home series

The Troy Trojans will make a trip to Provo, Utah this season to take on the BYU Cougars in the front half of a brand new home and home series.

The Trojans announced the series on Thursday morning. The Trojans will take on the Cougars in Provo on September 26. They will then complete the series when the Cougars pay a visit to Troy on September 5, 2026.

The Trojans are having to fill multiple voids in their schedule after all four of their non-conference games have been canceled due to concerns of COVID-19.

Troy’s opener against Arkansas-Pine Bluff was canceled after the Southwestern Athletic Conference postponed fall sports until the spring. Troy’s game against Tennessee was called off after the Southeastern Conference decided to play only conference games. The Atlantic Coast Conference allowed teams to play one in-state non-conference opponent this year, cancelling Troy’s game against North Carolina State. Recently the University of Massachusetts canceled their season, meaning their game against the Trojans is also canceled.

The Sun Belt Conference announced earlier this month that each team will play eight conference games this season and will have the option to play up to four non-conference games.

The Cougars finished the 2019 season 7-6. They finished the season with a 38-34 loss to Hawaii in the Hawaiian Bowl. Under first year head coach Chip Lindsey, the Trojans finished 2019 5-7. This year’s meeting will be the first between the two schools.
