Football is back on the campus of Troy University. With students set to arrive on campus this weekend, the Troy Trojan football team will be back on the field Friday morning in day one of Fall Camp.
The Trojans last held organized team practice in the spring when they participated in an abbreviated spring practice.
This fall the Trojans will hold seven practices during the camp, beginning at 9 a.m. Friday morning. The practices are closed to the public due to social distancing guidelines in place for COVID-19, but there will be a Kickoff Party for fans later this month.
The Trojans will begin camp with 12 players named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Team including linebacker Carlton Martial, who has been named to the Bednarick, Butkus and Bronko Award Watch List. Dell Pettus enters the season on the Jim Thorpe Award Watch List.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Trojans return a number of playmakers including running back B.J. Smith and receivers Kaylon Geiger and Reggie Todd. The Trojans are tasked with replacing former quarterback Kaleb Barker. There will be a competition for the starting position between Gunnar Watson, Jacob Free and more.
The Trojans finished last season 5-7 under head coach Chip Lindsey, who will be entering his second season in 2020.
Fall camp will conclude on Friday, August 14.
