Eight Trojans to participate in summer baseball leagues

Even though the 2020 college baseball season was cut short, members of the Troy baseball team will have the opportunity to get in plenty of work this summer.

Earlier this week the Trojans will have a total of eight players participating in summer leagues over the course of the summer. Those players include Easton Kirk, William Sullivan, Kyle Mock, Noah Janney, DJ Wilkinson, Drew Frederic, Hudson Hartsfield and Trojan newcomer Clay Stearns.

Kirk will open the summer playing for the Savannah Bananas in the Coastal Plains League. The infielder finished the season hitting .281 with one home run and 15 RBI. He finished with seven extra base hits.

Sullivan is heading south to play for the Winter Park Diamon Dogs in the Florida Collegiate League. He is one of four Trojans to play in the Florida Collegiate League joining Mock, Janney and Stearns.

Sullivan played in 15 games as a freshman. He finished the season with a .396 batting average with 12 RBI and 11 runs scored.

Mock will be a member of the Seminole County Snappers. Mock finished the season with a  .231 batting average with one home run and nine RBI.

Janney had two appearances on the mound for the Trojans as a freshman. He will be joining the Winter Garden Squeeze this summer. 

Stearns will join the Leesburg Lightning.

Willikinson will head north to play in the Northwoods League’s Willmar Stingers. Wilkinson made seven appearances on the mound for the Trojans in 2020.

Longtime Trojan Drew Frederic and Hudson Hartsfield will play in the Bama Collegiate League this summer. Frederic finished the shortened season with a .409 batting average with six extra base hits including four doubles. He had 13 RBI and 18 runs scored. He had 11 stolen bases. Hartsfield played in seven games for the Trojans in 2020 as an outfielder.
