The Goshen Eagles released their 2020 football schedule earlier this week. 2020 marks the first year that Goshen football will compete in Class 3A. Although their schedule reflects the change, there are still some familiar names on the schedule.

The Goshen Eagles finished the 2019 season in the postseason once again. They finished the regular season with a 7-3 record and advanced to the second round of the playoffs after they knocked off Thorsby 36-0. Their season came to a close when they fell to Leroy 34-25 in a rematch of the 2017 semifinals.

This season the Eagles open up the year with two-straight home games. They open up the year at home against Holtville before they host a familiar foe in Ariton the following week.  Following the two-game homestand, the Eagles hit the road to open up play in Class 3A Region 4 when they take on Trinity and Childersburg.

The Eagles will take on cross-country rival Pike County in the annual homecoming game the following week. It will mark the first time the two teams will meet as region rivals. The Eagles got the better of the Bulldogs in 2017, winning 24-14.

The Eagles will close out their road schedule the following week when they travel to take on Beulah. They return home the following week to finish off the season against Montgomery Catholic.

Goshen’s 2020 opponents went a combined 78-38 last season. Seven of their opponents made the postseason last year including Reeltown who advanced all the way to the state championship game. Montgomery Catholic had their season come to a close in the third round.

Goshen’s opening game against Holtville is scheduled for August 21.
