Post 70 knocks off Post 284 before falling to North Florida

The American Legion Post 70 baseball team played a pair of games on Saturday in Chipley Florida.

Post 70 began the weekend with a 15-1 win over Post 284. They fell to the North Florida Black Sox 2 in the second game of the day, 2-1.

The 1-1 finish brings Post 70’s record on the season to 5-1.

This weekend’s games marked the second consecutive weekend that Post 70 made the trip to Florida to play in two games. They opened the summer with a 4-0 start last weekend in Chipley.

David Warren got the start for Post 70 in game one on Saturday. Warren pitched four innings and allowed one run on one hit and two walks. Grayson Stewart pitched the final inning on Saturday and struck out two batters.

American Legion took a 5-1 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning. They then scored 10 runs in the bottom of the fourth to secure a 15-1 lead.

Post 70 had four hits in the inning including RBI singles by Jake Killingsworth, Will Aaron and Davis Allen. Matt Snell had a two-run double in the inning.

Post 70 finished with 12 hits led by Killingsworth, who finished 3-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Allen finished 2-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Coleman Wright and Aaron also had two hits for Post 70 in the win.

After scoring 15 runs on 12 hits in game one on Saturday, runs were hard to come by for Post 70 in game two.

Logan Ross, Jackson Ceman and Snell all got on the mound for Post 70. Ross got the start and allowed one unearned run, while Snell allowed an earned run on one hit.

North Florida scored a single run in both the third and fourth innings. Post 70 scored their lone run of the game in the top of the fifth inning when Maddux Herring homered to right field.

Post 70 finished with five hits. Seth Johnson, DJ Law, Ceman, Snell, and Herring all had one hit.

Post 70 is scheduled to return to action on Friday when they travel to play NLB Andreoli.

It will be the first of  four games to be played at the Panama City Beach Sports Complex.

Post 70 is also scheduled to play Next Level Baseball, North Florida 2 and NLB White.
