Thomas pitches six hitless innings in Troy’s win over Louisiana Tech

The Troy Trojans opened up a three-game series against Louisiana Tech on Friday night at Riddle-Pace Field.

The Trojans remained perfect on the night after shutting out the Bulldogs 4-0.

Levi Thomas got the start on Friday night. Thomas backed up his strong opening start with six hitless innings on Friday. He allowed two base runners via a hit batter and a walk. Thomas was pulled heading into the seventh inning with a 2-0 lead. He struck out 11 batters. The junior now has 25 strikeouts in 11 innings pitched.

The Trojans jumped on the scoreboard with a run in the first inning. Dalton Sinquefield reached safely on an error and came around to score on a double by Caleb Bartolero. Rigsby Mosley hit a one out triple to begin the threat for the Trojans in the third. He came around to score on a Drew Frederic double to left center to increase the Trojans lead to 2-0.

The Trojans picked up a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Bartolero smashed a two run home run to left center that traveled nearly 400 feet to push Troy’s lead to four at 4-0.

Lance Johnson finished off a two inning save in the ninth inning to preserve Troy’s undefeated start to the season.

The Trojans will continue their series against Louisiana Tech on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. They will conclude the series on Sunday.
