The Goshen boy’s varsity basketball team knocked off Samson 95-61 in the Class 2A Area 4 Tournament on Tuesday evening in Goshen.
The win for the Eagles automatically sends them to the Class 2A Sub-Regional Tournament.
The Eagles will play for the Area 4 championship on Friday evening in Goshen.
A 51 point first half paced the Eagles to victory on Tuesday.
Makel Avery scored 11 first quarter points and the Eagles went into the second leading 21-7. Avery added seven more points in the second quarter. Deshawne Brown added 12 and the Eagles took a 51-22 lead into halftime.
The Eagles outscored Samson 44-39 in the second half to secure a spot in Friday night’s championship.
Avery finished with 27 points, while Brown added 22. Tre Dix and Michael McBryde each had nine points and Jakamron Rumph had seven.
The Eagles will take on the winner of New Brockton and Zion Chapel on Friday night beginning at 6 p.m.
