The Goshen Eagles finished off senior night in Goshen with a dominating 59-39 win over area rival New Brockton on Monday night.
The win for the Eagles gives them a 5-1 area record. They finished area play in a tie for first place with Zion Chapel. They won the coin flip and will host the area tournament for the fifth consecutive season. The tournament will begin on Tuesday, February 4. The Eagles are 8-8 overall.
The Eagles scored 28 points in the opening half. They made five 3-pointers in the half.
After going into the half leading the Gamecocks 28-22, the Eagles outscored New Brockton 17-5 in the third quarter and took a commanding 45-27 lead into the final quarter.
Leading by 18 in the final quarter, Michael McBryde scored five points in the final quarter to help the Eagles secure the 20-point win.
The Eagles finished with nine made 3-pointers.
Eight different Eagles scored in the win. Dee Maddox led with way, scoring 20 points, while Jakamron Rumph finished with 11. Deshawne Brown and Michael McBryde each scored eight points and Tre Dix finished with four. Makel Avery, Jeff Warrick had three points, while Jordan Samson had two.
The Eagles will travel to Troy on Thursday night to take on the Charles Henderson Trojans. Tip-off is scheduled for approximately 6 p.m.
