Lady Patriots and Eagles pick up area wins

The Pike Liberal Arts Lady Patriots increased their winning streak with a 40-31 win over the Macon East Knights on Thursday evening in Troy.

The win for the Lady Patriots increases their winning streak to eight games and are now 14-7 on the season.

The game was tight throughout the contest. The two teams each scored eight points in the opening quarter.

The Patriots were outscored by the Knights in the second quarter, but barely and went into the half trailing 18-17. The Patriots outscored the Knights 23-13 in the second half to secure the nine-point win.

Two Patriots finished in double figures led by Shelby Renfroe who finished with 16 points and six assists. Lakin Harrell finished 11. Ansley Adams and Sara Todd Floyd each finished with four points, while Caroline Senn had three.

The Patriots will be back in action on Friday when they travel to take on Hooper.

Goshen 41 New Brockton 22

The Goshen Eagles knocked off area foe New Brockton in a road area game on Thursday night.

The Eagles had six total players score in the win, led by Ajayden Rogers, who finished with 13 points. Ella Baker chipped in with 10 points, while Briona Burden had seven. Carlisha Jackson had six points, while Ashunte Freeman had five. Kaleigh Burden finished with one point.

The Eagles will be back in action next Tuesday when they host Zion Chapel.
