Patriots continue winning streak with win over Morgan

The Pike Liberal Arts boys varsity basketball team capped off a varsity sweep of Morgan Academy with a 54-48 win on Tuesday night in Troy.
The win for the Patriots brings them to 9-7 on the season.
Since the Patriots have hit the 2020 portion of their schedule, the Patriots have yet to lose. In 2020, the Patriots have knocked off Crenshaw Christian Academy, Fort Dale, Northside Methodist and now Morgan Academy.
The Patriots went into the second quarter leading by one at 13-12. Their lead grew to six at 20-14 with 6:34 remaining in the half. By quarter’s end, the Patriots went into the locker room at halftime tied at 24.
The Patriots outscored the Senators 30-24 in the second half to secure the win.
The Patriots had six players score on Wednesday evening. Two of them scored in double figures led by Austin Cross, who scored 19 points. Nick O’Brien chipped in with 14 points, while Drew Nelson finished with nine. Jaquavian Johnson had five points, Javon Christian had four and Jeffrey Knotts had two.
After a road-heavy start to the season, the Patriots are in the midst of playing five of six at home. They will conclude that run of home games on Thursday when they host the Knights of Macon East. The junior varsity girls start at 4 p.m. followed by the boys. The varsity games will follow shortly after.
