Lady Bulldogs stay unbeaten in area play

The Pike County Lady Bulldogs picked up a key area win when they knocked off Providence Christian 52-48 on Tuesday evening in Brundidge.

The win for the Bulldogs improves their area record on the season to 3-0 and sit alone in first place in Class 3A Area 4 standings.

The Bulldogs outscored Providence Christian in all but one quarter on Tuesday night. After outscoring Providence 13-12 in the opening quarter, the Bulldogs went into the locker room at halftime trailing by one at 19-18. Aliah Broadnax finished the half with six points after she made two 3-pointers.

Kyah Rouse scored five third quarter points and the Bulldogs regained the lead heading into the fourth. Rouse carried over her performance in the third quarter into the fourth where she scored 12 of the team’s 20 points, helping the Bulldogs to pull out the four-point win.

Rouse finished with a game-high 21 points, while Broadnax finished with 11. Tajh Boyd finished with seven points, while TaNiyah Green finished with five. Angel Terry and Mackenzie Eutsey finished with two points.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Friday when they travel to take on Wicksburg.
