Big second quarter lifts Bulldogs to win over Wicksburg

The Pike County Lady Bulldogs picked up a 39-21 win over Wicksburg in area play on Friday night in Brundidge.
The Bulldogs held the Panthers to just two second quarter points and rode that to an 18-point win.
The win for the Bulldogs gives them a 1-1 record in area play.
The Bulldogs and Panthers traded points in the opening quarter and went into the second tied at 10.
The Panthers scored the first two points of the second quarter, but went scoreless the rest of the way. During that stretch, the Patriots scored 17 second quarter points and went into halftime holding a comfortable 27-12 lead.
The Bulldogs lead grew to as many as 20 points in the second half. Both teams scored six fourth quarter points and the Bulldogs held on to the win.
Tajh Boyd finished the day with a team-high 11 points. Taniyah Green finished with eight points, while Kyah Rouse finished with seven.
The Bulldogs will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Providence Christian in their third area game of the season. The Bulldog B-Team will begin the day at 4:30 with the varsity girls and boys to follow.
