Trojans outlast first place Little Rock

After a three-game road stretch, the Troy Trojans returned home on Thursday night to take on the Little Rock Trojans.
Darian Adams scored 15 second half points and the Trojans made 15 3-pointers to secure a 76-71 win over first place Little Rock.
The win for the Trojans evens their mark in conference play at 3-3.
The Trojans led throughout much of the first half on the strength of 3-point shooting. The Trojans made seven of their 19 3-point shots, three of them coming from Chuck Norman.
The Trojans trailed briefly in the early stages of the game before evening the score at eight. They never trailed the rest of the half.
Their lead stretched to as many as eight points in the half. With the Trojans leading by two points, Norman made two consecutive 3-point shots to give Troy a 25-17 lead.
The Trojans didn’t make a trip to the free throw line until there was just 32 seconds remaining in the half. With the game tied at 29, Davion Thomas made one of two to give the Trojans a 30-29 lead. The Trojans went into the half leading by three after Ty Gordon made a late shot.
The Trojans scored the first five points after halftime. Jakevan Leftfridge made a three and Darian Adams knocked down a two to give the Trojans a 37-29 lead. Desmond Williams and Gordon both made 3-pointers and the Trojans led by eight at 43-35 at the under 16:00 timeout.
Adams had a rim-rocking dunk to give the Trojans their second double digit lead of the game. The Trojans saw their lead shrink by one heading into the next media timeout. After getting fouled on a made 3-pointer, Little Rock’s Jovan Stulic converted a four-point play to bring Little Rock back to within six at 45-39. A Gordon made three pointer stretched the Trojans lead back to nine with 12:43 remaining.
After Little Rock got to within two, the Trojans once again got back-to-back 3-pointers, this time by Williams and Adams to give the Trojans a 57-29 lead. Adams knocked down another three with 7:36 remaining to give the Trojans a 60-51 lead. Adams continued his strong second half with another three on a fade away shot as the shot clock expired to give the Trojans their largest lead at 12.
Stulic made a 3-pointer with 8 seconds remaining to cut Troy’s lead to three at 74-71. Nick Stampley made two free throws to secure the win for the Trojans.
Adams finished with game-high 18 points and a double-double after hauling in 11 rebounds. Gordon finished with 17 and Williams finished with 15.
The Trojans will be back on the road on Saturday to take on Arkansas State beginning at 4 p.m.
