Eagles wrap up play in Ariton tournament

The Goshen Eagles boys varsity basketball team got their season underway this week at the Ariton Thanksgiving Tournament.

The Eagles lost to Providence Christian twice this week, but sandwiched in between was a 44-22 win over area foe Zion Chapel.

In game one against Providence, Goshen fell 70-55. Dee Maddoux led the Eagles with 14 points. Steven Meeks added nine, while Deshawne Brown and Tre Dix each had seven.

In the Eagles win over the Rebels The Eagles had one player finish in double figures. Makel Avery led the way with 10 points, while Maddoux had nine and Jeff Warrick had eight. Brown finished with seven.

The Eagles closed out the tournament on Wednesday afternoon with a 58-56 loss to Providence Christian.

“What did you learn from the first game?

Maddoux again led the way, this time scoring 23 points. Warrick finished with 16 points, while Brown finished with 11.

With a 1-2 record under their belts, the Eagles now get set to host Highland Home in the home opener next Thursday night.
