Eagles knock off Lions 56-6 on homecoming

The Goshen Eagles celebrated homecoming with a 56-6 win over Central Hayneville on Friday night in Goshen.
The win for the Eagles improves their overall record on the season to 7-1 and they are now 5-1 in region play.
After being held scoreless on their first possession of the game, the Eagles tacked on 30 unanswered points in the opening half.
Makel Avery hauled in a Bryan Galloway pass for a 22-yard touchdown to kick off the scoring.
After failing to pick up a first down on their next drive, the Lions attempted a punt, but the snap siled over the punter’s head and out of the back of the end zone for a safety, giving the Patriots a 9-0 lead.
Galloway was responsible for all four Eagles touchdowns in the opening half. He scored three rushing touchdowns including his first when he scampered in for a six-yard score. After the game entered the second quarter with the Eagles up 16-0, Galloway added his second score on a three-yard touchdown run.
The Eagles blocked a punt deep in the Lions end of the field. Galloway scored his third touchown of the half on a five-yard run sending the game into halftime with the Eagles leading 30-0.
Galloway had a pair of touchdown passes of 43 and 14 yards to Dakari Pelton to begin the second half.
Galloway scored his fourth rushing touchdown of the game in the third quarter. The Bulldogs also had a touchdown from JaMarco Harris on a nine-yard run.
Galloway finished the game with 32 yards rushing to go along with his four touchdown runs. JaKamron Rumph had 48 yards and Tamarcus Shipmon added 43.
Galloway completed eight of his nine passes for 130 yards and had three touchdowns.
The Eagles will have a big game next Friday night when they travel to take on Highland Home with the region championship on the line. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.X
