Ariton pushes winning streak to six games with win over Barbour County

The Ariton Purple Cats knocked off Barbour County 61-6 on Friday night in Clayton.

The win for the Purple Cats extends their winning streak to six games and they now sit 6-2 on the season and are 5-0 in region play.

The Purple Cats finished with 511 total yards in the win and 456 of them came on the ground. The Purple Cats finished with 55 passing yards.

Quarterback Maddux Herring completed three of his six passes for 55 yards and had two touchdowns.

Zack Phillips led the ground attack for the Purple Cats. He tallied 75 yards on just three carries. Hayes Floyd added 70 yards, while Zack Ward and Parker Garrett each had 60. Ward, Garrett and Blake Carroll all had rushing touchdowns.

For the second time already this season, the Purple Cats will play for first place in region two when they travel to take on G.W. Long next week in a battle of 5-0 teams.
