Trojans knock off Rebels

The Charles Henderson Trojan volleyball teams split with the Zion Chapel Rebels on Tuesday evening in Troy on senior night.

The junior varsity Trojans began the night with a loss in two sets 22-25, 23-25. The varsity finished off senior night with a 3-1 win over the Rebels 26-24, 23-25, 25-18, 27-25.

Anyla Shipman had 23 kills and two total blocks. Madison Stewart finished with a career high in kills with 11. She also had three aces and one block. Mikalah Griffin had a career high seven kills and one block. McKenzie Cain finished with four aces.

“It’s always great when you can send your seniors out on their last home match with a win,” Trojan head coach Sonny Kirkpatrick said. “Zion Chapel played really well and it was good to see how we reacted when the pressure was on. I’m really proud that we fought and finished strong.”

The Trojans will close out the regular season next Thursday night when they travel to Geneva to take on both the Panthers and the Brantley Bulldogs.
