Patriots end losing streak with win over Abbeville Christian

The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots snapped a lengthy losing streak Friday night when they knocked off Abbeville Christian 50-14.

After winning the opening game against Morgan Academy, the Patriots dropped five-straight games heading into Friday night. The win for the Patriots improves their record on the season to 2-5.

The Patriots combined to score just 13 points in the first and fourth quarters on Friday night, but 41 points in the second quarter helped lift the Patriots to victory.

The Patriots had five different players score touchdowns. Running back Chip Faircloth had a pair of rushing touchdowns for 23 and 25 yards. Senior Davis Allen returned a kick 75 yards and later scored on an 80-yard interception return. Connor Cox scored on a pair of catches that went for 31 and 35 yards. Quarterback Drew Nelson also ran in the first touchdown of the game.

Nelson completed eight of his passes for 112 yards and had two touchdown passes. Faircloth finished with 87 yards and two touchdowns.

The Patriots held the Generals to 156 total yards on Friday night. Jackson Senn led the way with 12 tackles, while Nick O’Brien finished with eight and Jaquavian Johnson finished with seven.

The Patriots will get back to region play next week when they return home to take on Fort Dale beginning at 7 p.m.
