Ariton knocks off Slocomb

The Ariton Purple Cats stepped out of region play to take on the Slocomb Red Tops Friday night. The Purple Cats rushed for 476 yards and they knocked off Slocomb 41-29.

The win for the Purple Cats increases their current win streak to four games and they now find themselves 5-2 on the season.

Ariton did most of their damage in the first half when they scored 21 of their 41 points.

The Purple Cats finished with 631 yards of total offense on Friday night. Brian Smith led the ground attack with 191 yards on 18 carries and he had one touchdown. Blake Carroll added 170 yards on 24 carries and had three touchdowns. Logan Harrell also finished with a touchdown.

Quarterback Ian Senn completed 10 of his 12 passes for 70 yards, while Maddux Herring completed three of his four passes for 85 yards.

Carroll led the defense with 10 tackles, while Zach Ward had six.

After spending one game on the road, the Purple Cats will return home next Friday night when they get back to region play against Abbeville.
