Rebels look to snap losing streak

After winning their season opener for the second consecutive season, the Zion Chapel Rebels currently find themselves in a two-game losing streak. They hope to snap the brief streak with a win this evening against Calhoun.

The Rebels won back-to-back season openers for the first time since the mid 1970s. Since then, they have dropped two-straight games to two teams sure to be battling it out for the region title at the end of the year. The fell to Goshen in week two before falling to defending region champion Luverne last week.

The Rebels scored 20 points in their win in the opener. Since then, Zion Chapel has been shut out and in the last two weeks, they have allowed a total of 108 points.

Calhoun comes into tonight’s game 0-3 after falling to Pike Road, Samson and Highland Home. The Tigers are still looking for their first points this season. They have been outscored 156-0 over the course of the first three games.

The Rebels have knocked off the Tigers in five straight meetings. The Tigers are looking for their first win against any opponent since their second to last game of the 2014 season. In that span they have lost 44 straight games.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Greene Memorial Stadium in Jack.
